The search for peace should never be postponed, if you can afford it. This is rarely the case in my storm wrecked country. The roads are collapsing, the very ground beneath the homes go with them. People are isolated, suffering and little more. I can hardly call it survival.
Travelling through this stormy age of ours, our ship appears to be at the mercy of winds and tides beyond our control. The rats haven’t jumped, but some signals are in the air. Their sheer ineptitude should makes us understand that the barbarians are at the gate, and this is not a time to fight amongst ourselves.
Nevertheless, it’s sickening to hear the words of the political apparatus. The government is powerless, delusional and little more. The opposition, besides it, just adds a veneer of distraction over it. No solution can be found in this swamp. “Political parties” in this partitocracy reveal that their “class” is to be an euphemism of cheap brothels, havens of narcissists, and let us hope nothing darker lurking around.
On the point of sheer incompetence, we should observe that:
- A prime minister that knows not the Mondego river is one of two exclusively Portuguese rivers, should not govern;
- An opposition that shows no practical support or solution, should not govern;
- This class of imbeciles should be jailed or defenestrated, according to Portuguese tradition.
On the “mast” of this ship, we should look for a brighter future. For it’s always darker in the middle of the night, and I’d like to believe we’re past it, we hope to build stronger. Nay, we will just do it.
We should learn of this:
- Maintenance of core infrastructure isn’t an option, it’s a duty.
- Privatisation of core infrastructure should be illegal.
- Elections aren’t what our political system was built for. It was built to enable the election of people to serve the People, not private interests.
- Barbarians are in our midst. Beware, but fear them not, think before you act, and stop being a standard idiot that just remembers slogans.
- This place we call home, can be taken from us. Alone, we’ll be wiped out, be civil, and let us live together.
At end of the day, let us look for whatever measure of peace we can afford.
